Huawei Harmony OS – The future plans

Huawei has officially launched the New Harmony OS. This has been teasing since Google and other U.S. companies started to limit their business and products. There was no real need for Huawei to unveil its operating system. Harmony is not a mobile phone system to substitute Android. But to operate on devices from tablets to phones, smartwatches to vehicles, and much more.

Harmony OS is not out-of-the-box compatible with Android applications, informs Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO Richard Yu. That means that you can’t just side-load any Android app of your choice.

Mr. YU suggests in a press conference that software developers will need to create “tiny changes” to their applications. To compile them to operate on Harmony OS. He claims that transferring Android apps to Harmony OS is “very simple.”

This integration would make it possible to run on minimal RAM ranging from megabytes to gigabytes. This implies that users may have an embedded environment with devices operating on the same system. As smart amplifiers, vehicle stereos, tablets, and portable phones. And since it would be an open platform. So android, HTML 5, and even Linux applications would work efficiently and natively on the operating system.

You can directly beam movies, games, and videos with an NFC handshake and  Direct WiFi connection with Harmony-OS onboard. And an AI-enabled video calling a pop-up camera.

According to the company, they could have the operating system running by 2020. And with its version 3.0 coming in the year to follow after accelerating the development process.

Harmony OS has produced its debut on Honor Vision TV already. But next year Huawei is also planning to transfer its PCs, wearables and head units on board. It will follow by 2022 by speakers, headsets and VR glasses.

Huawei handset consumers do not need to care that they will not be prepared to encounter these features. These features on their smartphones and tablets, like Lu, reveal that they would be available from EMUI 10.
