Before discussing stock images and free stock images. Let’s have a look why photos are important. And what are stock images? Photos make our content more attractive. Sometimes it helps to explain our idea to the audience. What you can’t explain with a hundred words can be explained with just a single image. Even if we don’t need them to explain something, still these images give our writing our content an attractive look. But as the online business is growing faster. Everything is getting licensed under copyright.
The same goes for images too. Now you can’t take a random photo from Google and put it in your content. Maybe the one who uploaded it doesn’t want anyone to use his photo. This can cause serious trouble. But no need to worry, there are many stock photos which are free to use. It’s also a way to earn from stock photos. We’ll discuss it in another article. For now here is a write-up about how to get free stock images.
Free stock images for commercial use
You can get free stock photos from different sources. But here are 2 sources I use to find free images for my articles and other uses.
Find free photos using Google Search:
Google is the answer to every question. Well, this quote is true for our today’s topic also. You can easily find free images on Google. If you’ve searched any image in Google. You must see there is a caption below every image saying: Images may be subject to copyright.
This means that maybe this photo can bring copyright to your content where you want to use that image. But you can avoid this by Google advanced image search. Don’t worry, it’s not at all that difficult. Google advanced search options are visible below the search bar. Whenever you search a keyword for images, just click on the images tab. And then on the right corner, you’ll find 2 more tabs, Settings and Tools. Click on the Tools tab and see the options below. Then click on Usage rights option and a drop-down menu appears. This menu has 4 options:
- Labeled for reuse with modification
- (None edit/modification) Labeled for reuse
- Labeled for non-commercial reuse with modification
- (None edit/modification) Labeled for non-commercial reuse
Select your required license and check your photos. You can further use filters like size, type, time, color etc.
Popular Websites for free stock images:
The second way to get free images is using these popular websites. These websites have lots of free images uploaded with copyright free license. So if you use photos from these websites, you will not face any copyright infringement. But before using photos from any free website, must read the usage license. Generally, all these sites have the same usage license policy. But it’s a good practice to have a look at the license once.
